Welcome to New phobus - April 9
THE FALL OF RESILIENCE
Folks across the Anvil, no matter how secluded, have heard the tale that the city of light has been captured. The question on everyone’s mind is, who, and why? Well, let me tell you the truth, my friend.
Since the beginning of the year, the local factions have been just fuming at each other. Decades old grudges finally being given a reason to start fighting. All because one person found some documents that were never supposed to see the light of day. Plans for some kind of radioactive weapon. This information made its way out of Resilience and traveled all the way to Steelbridge where the Rusty Lanterns took quite an interest in it. They believe that no one should have such a doomsday weapon. Of course, Resilience denied anything to do with it. It was not long before the cold war heated up. Street battles and small-scale fights broke out. Allies were drawn on both sides.
It wasn't long before it was the Darwins and the Fallows versus the Sainthood and the Fallow Hopes. It seemed that both sides set their sights on the same target. Fissile material buried deep in underground bunkers. Guarded by the Atomic Priesthood for centuries, these bunkers were the base of their entire religion. You can imagine how they must have felt when they were plundered…
The Citadel wanted what was inside so that Resilience could not use the materials to further create a radioactive weapon. Resilience wanted the materials to power their atomic reactor. You know who did all the digging? Emberforge. Caught in between a rock and a hard place, barrels were given to both sides… that is until a caravan from Resilience was found sacked. Apparently the raiders saved us all when they happened to attack the caravan as they were about to commit some kind of horrible radioactive crime with one of the barrels of materials taken from one of the bunkers.
That one little stroke of luck caused a full scale conflict between Steelbridge and Resilience. More and more factions and faiths began to take sides. In March, a ceasefire was announced. For three hours, the heads of the two factions met in Emberforge to hash out peace. Right before everyone started swinging on each other, an emergency telegram came in from Resilience.
“Resilience has fallen. Snow Taken Prisoner. Many Dead. Eclipse not Servants. Admiral too powerful. Army Green. Emberforge next. Run.”
And so, the first battle involving the Eclipse’s army and Emberforge began. The people were bad… but their zed afterwards… that was worse. Every one of them was down to their last drop of life. So when the Embers killed their attackers… they had to deal with a worse threat right after.
So that leaves us with Resilience. Or as they are calling it, New Phobus. Anyone who was in Resilience, or hell, even near it at the time, was captured. They made sure not to kill anyone. There are rumors that the Eclipse are forcing them to run the reactor. Anyone not helpful there is either conscripted into their army or… worse. They say they have a new disease or two that they have been giving to people. One that makes you fight and one that makes you flight if you know what I mean. Some are being turned into meaty bits, bottled infection, or crystals. Getting into or out of the city has been basically impossible. Even by airship, they will just shoot you out of the sky.
Some hope for those inside remains. They say that there are small pockets of survivors hiding the sewers… waiting for their moment to escape the Eclipse.
