Diving into hell

What is a corrupted morgue? Is it nice? Can I lick it? All of these and more will be answered here. Corrupted Morgues are a horror beyond understanding. They are created in a number of ways. Failed necrology, abberant nonsense, or just plain bad luck. When a morgue corrupts, it unleashes a type of zed that are simply terrifying. Wahels (Wuh-Hells) are the worst of the worst. They require special Necology gear to hurt and kill and if a corrupted morgue is left unchecked, they will infect every part of the local morgue. Below are some bullet points to get you familiar with what may (or may not) be happening in the coming months.

  • Corrupted Mortis Scenes

When a morgue is corrupted, any and all Mortis scenes will be altered to reflect this. During such scenes, Wahels will be present and will attempt to harm your character. While they may not outright kill your character, they sure can mess them up. What this means for you, the player, is that before you enter the Mortis, (Graverobbing, death scenes, using the Necrology station) you MUST inform staff at least an hour beforehand so that we can make the appropriate preperations.

  • Necrology At Its Finest

Necrology gear will be your best friend in these scenes. There is specific gear that only functions in corrupted morgue scenes. They do not function in the overworld. They all have limited uses and one use is used every time that item enters a corrupted morgue scene. These items are particuarly powerful agasint the threats within and will become your best friends.

  • Time Is Against You

To enter a corrupted morgue space, you need a specific piece of gear called a Lancing Casket. This allows one person per casket to enter the space. Once inside, those who have entered will have five minutes to do whatever it is that they are there to do. At the end of the five minutes, all characters must be within a ‘doorway zone’ that will be clearly marked. If all characters are inside the zone when the time runs out, all characters are thrown back into the overworld. If a character is not in the doorway zone when the timer reaches zero, that character will be forced to survive against the Wahels for one minute. At the end of the minute (assuming they are alive), they will be violently ejected from the scene, gain a fracture, and lose a resolve. If they do not have a resolve to spend OR already have a fracture, they will instead lose an infection and have a Mortis scene. Any character may activate the doorway early. This causes the timer to be reduced to five seconds before ejection.

All of this is to say that corrupted morgue scenes are a lot. The central themes to a corrupted morgue are Hellish Intensity, Teamwork, and Sacrifice. Hellish intensity comes from the nightmares that lurk within and the clock that only ever goes down. Combat inside will be fast-paced and brutal. Teamwork will be the only way that any of you will survive the encounter. Solo acts never get very far here. You have to work together on this one if you want to solve the issue. Finally, corrupted morgue scenes are steeped in sacrifice. This may be in infection, it may be in your sanity, it could even be something more precious than both of those combined, a combination of the three, or none of the above.

Of course, we want to provide epic scenes for you all. This is collaborative storytelling and we want to have you all be the big damn heroes of the world. If you have any questions, suggestions, or desires in what is to come, shoot a message to the ST director or coordinator. We are just dying to get your tale involed.

And yes; you can lick it.
