Resilience

“The City of Light”

“Come now, my dear friend, for we will protect you. So long as you are within these walls, you are no longer damaged, lost, or alone–  you are one of us. You are Resilient.” -Dr. Toll

The City of Resilience was once a small, humble town known as ‘Sanctuary’, a glorious safe-space for Retrogrades who fled the oppressive and dangerous society that feared their rotting flesh. During the Iron Harbor war, their town was bombed after being mistaken for a different Sanctuary. Thanks to the efforts of Miridiah Sanction and the citizens of the Rend– later known as Crossbones– they were able to take up a new home in an abandoned nuclear facility. They dubbed their town Resilience, and turned it into a paradise for the lost and strange once more.

Resilience and Cobb were the only settlements near Crossbones that did not get destroyed in the Booming Bay incident thanks to Resilience’s nuclear reactor, which powers the town’s electric fences, lighting system, and other luxuries. Unfortunately, the reactor has also attracted the attention of the Cult of the Fallow Hope and the Grave Cult, the Servants of the Undying, which led Resilience to become a target of multiple bomb threats.
The city is currently under the leadership of Archpriest Maddock Snow of the Atomic Priesthood, who has been the acting mayor since Mayor Jorgen disappeared this last New Years day. The city’s reactor is also overseen by a group known as the Reactor Safety Council. The council is populated by three prominent citizens: Blanton Finch, Glass, and Boxtrap. Their rule over the Reactor is absolute. Nothing happens to it without their permission. Not visits, maintenance, or energy distribution. This is needed due to the recent infiltration of the Servants of the Undying. That will never happen again under their watch. Resilience will remain free.

Common and Rare strains

Most common: Retrogrades, Remnants, and Ascencorites

Least common: Pureblood, Unborn, and Red Star

Faiths in Resilience

Most common:

The Light of Hedon - by far the largest faith in the area and the one with the oldest roots in the area, the Hedons make their home here in mass. Weekly Hedon revels are hosted, weekend long festivals ran, all sorts of fun things to make the city a celebration of life itself

The Church of Darwin - the second largest faith in town, the Darwins here are unique in that many of them follow a local subsect called the Atomic Priesthood. Members of the Atomic Priesthood trace their origins back from generations of members who dedicate themselves to defending any and all sites of radioactive waste that were meant to be sealed away forever.

Least common:
Cult of the Fallow Hopes - The reactor here is a point of tension between the Fallows and the Darwins. Most Fallow Hopes believe that the reactor should be shut down and the more extreme members believe that it should be destroyed. This has led to only a handful of Fallow Hopes to maintain any sort of home here.

The Kings and Queens Court - Many may come through this area to perform, but very few stay; a nomad’s life is the way to go when you’re a few hundred feet from a ticking time bomb!

People of Note

Mayor Jorgen Bellows - The currently elected mayor of the city, Mayor Jorgen is confident, collected, and a reasonably friendly Retrograde with a knack for getting people to come together.

Glass - A Retrograde who is a whiz with the chemistry required to keep the reactor ‘happy’. A member of the Reactor Safety Council.

Boxtrap - often found in the rod control room and a very devout member of the Atomic Priesthood. A member of the Reactor Safety Council.

Blanton Finch - a Retrograde follower of Hedon who is often regarded as the town's best mechanic. One of the members of the Reactor Safety Council.

Karolina Marks - Former Mayor of the city, Karolina now enjoys her retirement.

Dr. Gurcon Toll - The designer of the atomic reactor that Resilience is famous for. Head of the Science and Medical branch of the Atomic Priesthood.

Archpriest Maddock Snow - Current head of the Atomic Priesthood. This Unstable comes from a long line of Snow’s.
